TWENTY ELEVEN.
January 1, 2011 marked the beginning of my being-a-normal-student- again after resigning from PIO-ship in our organization. With personal reasons, I had to give up my responsibility to cope with my other priorities. And as a result, I was able to manage my academics better than when I was on my post. More than that, I had more time with my social life; spending time with my family and friends.
February 14, 2011 was a day filled with surprises not for me but for my special someone. I don’t have to elaborate on this. HAHA! But again, the last time I checked my RELATIONSHIP STATUS: SINGLE. :X
On the last week of February, our organization had the election for the new set of officers. On that day, the seat for presidency was humbly given to me. On that same day, I felt so honored to be awarded with that highest position in the organization. In spite of my resignation, people still entrusted me the organization. On that note, I am so overwhelmed that day. It was a beginning of my new track. In fact, it was my first time to handle the presidency.
Summer came. I never thought my summer this year would be this memorable. Why? I was able to reach the Caramoan Islands with my family. It was a great experience on so-virgin islands with white-to-gray-colored sand on beaches in Camarines Sur. Here are some photos for you to drool. XDD
Summer did not end without the team-building and planning activities for our organization. Though it was the time to enjoy, I, with the help of my officers, still gave some time for us to work on new possible activities for the coming academic year. We thought of great twists on the traditional activities to give new tastes on it and, absolutely, new events to give more opportunities to everyone.
Enrollment began and everyone became so busy especially in assisting the freshmen students. It was the beginning of work for me being the president of our organization. And I forgot. My birthday was on that week. XD Well, it was just like the ordinary days. And the days continued.
The day for the Acquaintance Party came. For me, the Black Light Party was a success. Though there were flaws, I guess it was so memorable most especially to the freshmen students. It was their night and that night was really for them. In spite of the reschedule of the event, the seminar before the party, and the several brownouts on that night, we still gave our best shot for the success of the party. And I guess it was worth it. Pero para sa mga nagreklamo sa food, Haha, I think the food does not primarily define the quality of the party. It’s the experience you won’t forget after getting into that party. TAMAAA? :D Well, that was my first time to organize a party and I think it was good enough. Pictures here and here.
And the days passed and I was becoming more hands-on on our organization than on my academics.
Intramurals came and everyone knew what happened. :D
A week or two after, Y4iT experience was on! Let’s admit it. We were bored on most of the topics in the seminars ongoing. Who would agree if I’d say that what made the experience so memorable were the hotel experience, takas-modes and the side trips most especially the Intramuros and Enchanted Kingdom experience? Kaya sa mga soon-to-experience-Y4iT students,WAG NA KAYO SUMAMA! Haha! Matatambakan lang kayo ng mga project na babalikan nyo pag-uwi ng Bicol. XD
This year, my programming-contest experiences were more than what I expected it to be. Well, I would shower these experiences most especially to the soon-to-be programming champions. Ipapamana rin naming yung mga binders na ginamit namin in the last programming competition. :D Photos here and here and here.
Generally, this was my twenty eleven highlights. Here are some of my realizations.
A FOLLOWER, this was me back then. But after being elected as the president of the organization, I had to become that true leader to represent the whole IT Department. It was a big responsibility I never thought I could handle. It was a great opportunity for me to grow up and mature in the field of leadership and decision-making. I can say that I have discovered more things about myself. And all these, I thank all those who truly believed in me. And of course, I thank God for this very big blessing.
Having this big blessing, giving opportunities to the people I am responsible of was also on my hands. A great example would be that of our very own Ms. Francis Layderos and Mr. Sean Funtanares. Sending them for the Search for Mr. and Ms. BUCS gave them the opportunity to represent the whole IT Department in our college. And to what happened, we were so lucky to have the title again for both categories. And fortunately after battling for the University Search, our Ms. IT-slash-Ms. BUCS became the Ms. Bicol University 2011. It was a great opportunity we have opened to her on her modeling-slash-pageant career. Though most of her batchmates were not present during the coronation night due to the Y4iT experience, we still gave her the best support we could give her. Meanwhile, some of the players who won on the BUCS Intramurals and BU Olympics became part of the University Varsity and were sent for the SCUAA 2011, where Bicol University remained undefeated. I am so grateful to bless them those opportunities.
What’s up for me on the coming year? I dunno. But I am so open for new possibilities this twenty twelve. Basta ang sigurado ko lang, di pa end of the world. :P Gagraduate pa ako sa 2013. ON TIME! =))
But for my plans given the chance to grab opportunities, here is a list.
Thank you for the opportunity that you have given me to serve you and the whole of the department. This will never be forgotten. I just have one wish for this new year. I hope that to whatever plans I have not only for myself but for the department whether that is on the field of politics or whatever, everyone will support me and my team.
Cheers for a bigger and better year for all of us in the coming year. :D
Happy New Year everyone! :D
To God be the glory.
That in all things, God may be glorified! :D
